Frequently asked questions
Can I make certificates for a whole class at once?
Yes — that is what the tool is for. Paste the names one per line, and printing produces one landscape page per person with everything else held constant. A serial number is stamped on each so you can keep a register of what was issued to whom.
What should a certificate say?
Four things: what kind of certificate it is, who it is for, what it is for, and who is issuing it. The citation is the part that carries the weight — "for successfully completing the Advanced Interface Design programme, comprising forty hours of instruction" says considerably more than "for participation", and is what makes the certificate worth keeping.
Why does it print sideways or cropped?
Because the printer is set to portrait. A certificate is landscape A4; set the orientation in the print dialog and choose 100% rather than "fit to page", or the border will be trimmed.
What paper should I use?
Anything from 200 gsm upward feels like a certificate rather than a printout. Matte or lightly textured stock takes the border and the seal better than gloss, which tends to show fingerprints on a document people handle.
