Frequently asked questions
Why does my IP address keep changing?
Most home connections get a dynamic address that changes when the router reconnects or the lease expires. It also changes when you switch between mobile data and Wi-Fi, or turn on a VPN. A static address is normally something you pay extra for on a business line.
Can someone find my home address from my IP?
No. An IP maps roughly to a city or an ISP region, and geolocation databases are often wrong by a long way. Only your internet provider can connect an address to an account, and they need a legal request to do it.
Why do I see an IPv6 address?
Because your network prefers it, which most mobile networks and many broadband providers now do. IPv6 exists because the world ran out of IPv4 addresses; if you need an IPv4 address for something, your connection may also have one, often shared with other customers.
Does FreePanda log my IP address?
No. The server reads the address off your request, returns it, and keeps nothing. Every other tool on the site runs entirely in your browser — this is the one page that has to ask the server anything at all, because a browser genuinely cannot know its own public address.
