Frequently asked questions

Do formulas work?

You see their results. Excel saves the last calculated value of every formula alongside the formula itself, and that value is what appears here โ€” so the numbers match your spreadsheet without anything being recalculated in the browser.

Does it keep my colours, borders and charts?

No. This produces a clean table of the data, which is what a PDF of a spreadsheet is usually for. Cell fills, conditional formatting, merged cells, charts and images are not carried over โ€” if the formatting itself matters, use Excel's own "Save as PDF".

Why are my dates showing as numbers like 45678?

Excel stores dates as a count of days from 1899-12-30, and whether one is a date depends on the cell format. This tool reads the formats and converts recognised date cells back to readable dates โ€” a stray number means that cell was never formatted as a date in the workbook.

My table is too wide for the page.

Switch to landscape, which fits considerably more columns. Beyond that a spreadsheet with dozens of columns will never sit comfortably on a page โ€” hiding the columns you do not need before exporting is usually the better answer.
